If you want to join the Mock Trial team, you must sign up for a 30-minute time slot. There are two parts to the audition:

  1. The first part of the audition will be an informal interview just to learn a bit more about you and what you would like to accomplish through Mock Trial.

  2. For the second part of the audition, you will need to prepare and memorize one of the monologue options below. Whether you’d prefer to be a witness or attorney, pick whichever monologue you feel drawn to or feel like you can do the best! You will be docked for not being memorized, but feel free to bring note cards.

If you have any questions about the audition process, email the Public Relations Chair, Brooke Hanson, at mtrecruitment@unl.edu

If you need to request an audition time that is not available or would like to request a Zoom audition, please reach out to our President, Cassidy June, at mtpresident@unl.edu.

Members of the team must be able to attend practices every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 7-9 pm. There will also be multiple weekends from October to April that would require your time for tournaments, though never more than five-seven in total.

We also ask that members of the team set aside these dates in September:

  • Sunday, September 21st, from 9:00 am - 4:30 pm (there will be no 7-9 pm practice on this date)
  • Sunday, October 5th, from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm

During the Interview, we will also ask you about your availability for the weekend of October 17th-19th, which is over fall break..

Not being able to attend any of these dates does not mean you cannot make the team! Email our President, Cassidy June, at mtpresident@unl.edu with any questions about this.
